Prerequisites
Before you begin
- Windows computer (Windows 10 or later)
- TopstepX desktop application installed
- Active TopstepX account with at least one trading account
- Active A|B subscription with TopstepX automation enabled
Setup Guide
1. Download the Agent
Download and install the A|B Agent from the downloads page. The Agent is required to connect TopstepX to Algo Bread.
Download Agent2. Install and Sign In
Run the installer and follow the prompts. Once installed, launch the Agent and sign in with your A|B account.
The Agent will appear in your system tray. Right-click the icon to access settings and connection status.

3. Launch TopstepX
Launch the TopstepX desktop application and log in to your account. Make sure you can see your trading accounts in the TopstepX interface.
TopstepX must be running for the Agent to execute trades. Keep it running whenever you want automation to work.
4. Connect in the Agent
Open the Agent settings and select TopstepX as your platform. The Agent will automatically detect TopstepX and display your available accounts.
Select the accounts you want to automate and click Connect. You should see a green status indicator when connected.
5. Verify Connection
Go to the Automation page in A|B and verify your connection status. You should see your TopstepX accounts listed and marked as connected.
Use the Test Signal feature to send a test alert and confirm everything is working.
Troubleshooting
Agent not detecting TopstepX
- Make sure TopstepX is running and you are logged in
- Restart both the Agent and TopstepX
- Run the Agent as Administrator
Connection keeps disconnecting
- Check your internet connection stability
- Ensure TopstepX doesn't timeout or log out automatically
- Disable any VPN or firewall that might block connections
Trades not executing
- Verify your account has sufficient buying power
- Check that the market is open for the symbol
- Ensure your webhook payload includes the correct account ID
- Check the Agent logs for error messages
